Is filling my tree difficult?

Is filling my tree difficult? you might ask.

The answer could be both yes and no, it depends very much on your point of view. If you are a hermit living in a cave with no internet access it would be a nearly impossible task. But if you are a pretty normal human being with a normal amount of friends it should be doable in a relatively short amount of time.

For some people it is ridiculously easy, we have seen people fill their tree in mere hours after joining. For others it’s a much harder task, they might use several weeks or maybe even months before their tree is full.

Let us give you some tips on how to make filling the tree a lot easier for you.

If you look at the tree and think “I only have to find two people” you have already lost. This line of thinking requires that everyone does their part, and as you know, not all people do what’s good for them or even what they said the would do.

If you look at the tree and think “I only need to find fourteen people” you have already won. Nothing can stop you, you will succeed all by yourself. In reality there will be a mix of the two; you will find two people and together the three of you will find the next four people and together the seven of you will find the next eight people. But your mindset should always be that you can do this whether or not the other people do their part.

It is smart to write down the people you know. For some unknown reason, your brain will cycle the same 5-10 names over and over again until you start writing. And once you write down 10 names, your brain will come up with 5 more. The act of writing will also trigger the "association" function in your brain which means you get even more names. Write down the people you know on your phone, on paper or on anything really, and you will have plenty of names to choose from.

Be smart about how you approach people. Think about how you will present it so that they will be interested. If someone presented an opportunity to you in this manner, would you be interested?
We are not going to tell you exactly what to say, as your age, your personality, your country and probably a dozen other factors decide what’s a good way to present this. You know your friends better than we do. But using tools is always a good idea.
Pen and paper might be good tools for some of you, but for the majority the video on the fillyourtree.com website are probably the best place to start.

Have you ever heard of Wayne Gretzky? On top of being recognized as one of the best ice hockey players of all time, he is famous for having said “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.
Maybe you have already thought about the two people that would be perfect for the first branch in your tree? Well, if you are smart you won’t be too hung up on specific names. You know hundreds of people. You might not consider all of them close friends, but how close do you need to be to earn €3200 together? It might even bring you closer.

It’s like the famous Texan saying SWSWSWN - Some Will, Some Won’t, So What? Next!
With that being said, if you approach several people and none of them are interested, don’t just continue with the same approach. You need a different strategy. I mean, who wouldn’t like to trade €400 for €3200 with a little bit of effort? People will be interested if you ask the right way. You were interested, weren’t you? There’s no reason why your friends wouldn’t also be.

The most important tip of all comes last:
Never ever ever ever approach people to see if they’re interested before you’ve paid for your tree. How are you going to get people to pay up €400 if you haven’t done it? Would you commit to joining a person in a system that they themselves weren’t committed to? Don’t ever let your people do it either. It’s an almost 100% guaranteed way of getting only rejections, and the only thing you accomplish is what we call “burning your best contacts”.

You will get a totally different result if you look someone directly in the eyes and say
“You have to take this opportunity. I already did, and I will make my €3200 with or without you. But to get there I have to help some more people, and I would like it to be you. Are you in?”
